Hope’s Virtual Collection Plate – June 2020

June Generosity Recipient: Tulsa Day Center for the Homeless
Our June Generosity Recipient is the Tulsa Day Center for the Homeless.

As part of Hope’s Outreach mission, we give away all the money we collect every week in our Sunday service. Of course, when we don’t have a Sunday service, we don’t have a collection to give away! But you can still donate to our Generosity Recipient.

If you would like to put some money in the “Virtual Collection Plate,” there are a couple of ways to do it.
You can always mail a check to us: Hope Unitarian Church, 8432 S. Sheridan Road, Tulsa, OK 74133. Write “generosity” in the memo line so we know what it’s for.
You can also donate online here: https://www.hopeuu.org/Generosity
If you’re uncomfortable clicking on a link in an email, visit our website, www.hopeuu.org. In the top menu, on the right-hand side, click on Donate. Then click on the icon for Realm (it looks like a cloud). That will take you to the online donation form. Put in the amount you’d like to donate, then click on the very small triangle under “Fund” to choose “Generosity” from the choices. Then complete the rest of the form like any other online form.
Our Generosity Recipient for June is the Tulsa Day Center for the Homeless. We are all very familiar with this important organization since Hope Unitarian Church provides donations of clothing, cereal, and of course the complete meal that we prepare and serve to the homeless one day a month.
The mission of the Day Center is to provide for a client’s basic needs of food, shelter, clothing, and bathing. In addition they offer rehousing, medical assistance, and legal aid. A free clinic is maintained at the Day Center to offer health and medication. Also clients are assigned a case manager to assess individual needs and make referrals.
The impact of Covid on their operation has temporarily changed their policies. The social distancing requirement has limited the numbers that can use the shelter during the day but the clinic has remained open and the case managers have continued to house clients.  Beginning in June they anticipate that more clients can come into the facility. Their main need right now is financial support. Hope members and friends are pleased to offer their monthly generosity offering to the Tulsa Day Center.
